WHEN IN MY ROUTINE SHOULD I USE AN EYE CREAM? We recommend using eye creams after cleansing, toning and applying serums and before moisturising as part of your AM and PM routine. Retinol Eye Cream should be used in the PM only.
WHY CAN'T I USE RETINOL IN THE MORNING? As Retinol speeds up skin renewal, newer skin reaches the surface quicker. This can increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun. That's why we recommended only using Retinol in the PM and always using a broad spectrum sunscreen during the day.
CAN I USE IT ALONGSIDE OTHER INGREDIENTS? We advise against layering Retinol on top of exfoliating acids such as AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Glycolic Acid & Apple Cider Vinegar) BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acid or C-50 Blemish Treatment), PHA Toner and Vitamin C during the same PM routine. Do not bring these ingredients in the under eye area where you would apply this eye cream. We suggest using these on alternate evenings and ensuring you start off slowly to ensure you do not sensitise the skin. What products should I not layer together? >
CAN I ALTERNATE THIS WITH OTHER EYE CREAMS? We would recommend against layering products under your delicate under eye area. Retinol Eye Cream is to be used during your PM routine only so we would recommend at looking at our other eye creams to introduce during your AM routine. You can certainly use other eye creams to target other concerns too such as Brighten-i to target dark circles and Caffeine Eye Cream to reduce puffiness. Read our Eye Cream 101 blog >
WHERE EXACTLY AROUND THE EYE SHOULD I BE USING THIS? Gently squeeze tube and dot a small amount of product around the contour of the eye. Pat using your ring finger. Don’t put too much pressure or pull the skin.
Whilst it is safe to apply eye treatments around the eye area due to their specific formulation, we don’t recommend using on the eyelids on too close to the waterline.
IS IT SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN? There are irritation risks with Retinol. This is why we made our formula slow release to reduce the risk of irritation and make it suitable for most skin types. However, if you have very sensitive skin or are pregnant, we suggest looking at other eye creams to stay on a safe side.
AT WHAT AGE CAN I USE THIS? Our Retinol Eye Cream is recommended for over 25 as this is when skin cell turnover starts to slow.
WHAT IS RETINOL? Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A and helps to promote skin renewal and enhance collagen production working beneath the surface of the skin. By stimulating renewal processes in the skin, newer skin cells reach the surface faster helping reverse and prevent the signs of ageing while brightening and smoothing skin.
HOW DOES THIS DIFFER FROM RETINOL SERUM? It is a targeted treatment for fine lines and wrinkles that has been specifically formulated to be gentle for the delicate under eye area. You could also use this around the mouth.
WHAT IS THE RETINOL % IN THIS PRODUCT? Retinol Eye Cream is formulated with 3% VitaleaseTM Stabilised Retinol Compound, it is a slow-release formula to help avoid irritation. Retinol equates to 0.09%.
HOW MUCH RETINOL IS WITHIN VITALEASE? 0.09%
WHAT IS THE PH LEVEL OF THIS PRODUCT? PH LEVEL: 5.0-6.0
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS? Products using retinol can take up to six weeks to show results. This is how long it takes for your skin cells to turnover. Consistency is key, so apply regularly even if you’re not seeing the effects straight away. It can be very tempting to increase use of some products to try and see quicker results, don't overdo it though. More is not necessarily more, and overuse can cause irritation and sensitivity. Avoid using directly with AHAs and Vitamin C.
