What is acne?
Acne is a very common concern that impacts most people at some point in thier life. Acne forms when the hair follicle holes in the skin become blocked by excess sebum and old cells. From here they can develop into different types of spots.
Blackheads (open comedones)
Small bumps with black or yellowish tone. Their colour comes when these bumps open causing oxidation.
Whiteheads (closed comedones)
These bumps are similar to blackheads, but they remain closed, keeping them from oxidizing and therefore appear white in colour.
These are formed when surrounding skin tissues become inflamed through damage or infection often from a ruptured comedone.
These are typically much larger in size and filled with pus. These can often be more painful as the immune system is reacting causing inflammation.
