Morning, in most cases. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which means it helps defend your skin against the environmental stress it meets during the day — pollution and UV exposure in particular. Applying it in the morning puts that protection in place before you need it. Apply to clean skin after cleansing and before moisturizer, then always follow with SPF. Vitamin C doesn't replace sunscreen, but the two work well together. If you'd rather use yours at night, that's fine too. Consistency matters more than timing.
Cleanse and pat skin dry. Apply 2–3 drops to your fingertips and press gently over your face and neck. Wait 30 seconds to absorb. Follow with moisturizer. In the morning, finish with SPF. Apply to dry rather than damp skin — it slows absorption slightly, which is what you want with an active. Once a day is plenty.
Yes — they're one of the easiest pairings in skincare. Hyaluronic acid draws water into the skin; vitamin C works on brightness and antioxidant defense. Different jobs, no conflict. Apply the thinner formula first. Usually that means hyaluronic acid, then vitamin C, then moisturizer.

Vitamin C itself doesn't usually cause breakouts, but a few things can make it look that way. Purging vs. reacting: small bumps in areas you normally break out in, settling within 2–4 weeks, are likely purging. Spots in new areas, or irritation that worsens, means the formula isn't agreeing with you — stop and reassess. Concentration matters. A high-strength formula on skin that isn't used to actives can trigger irritation that looks like breakouts. Gentler, stable forms of vitamin C are less likely to do this. Check the rest of your routine. Heavy occlusive products layered over a serum are a more common culprit than the serum itself.
Once daily is the sweet spot. More often doesn't brighten faster — it just increases the chance of irritation. If your skin is sensitive or new to actives, start every other day for two weeks, then build up. Give it time. Most people notice a difference in brightness and tone around the 8–12 week mark with consistent daily use.
