The Science-Backed Benefits of Azelaic Acid

Azelaic acid benefits extend far beyond basic skincare, offering clinically-proven results for multiple skin concerns. This naturally occurring ingredient has become a dermatologist favorite for its unique ability to target redness, inflammation, and uneven skin tone while being gentle enough for sensitive, rosacea-prone skin. Unlike harsh treatments, azelaic acid works through multiple pathways to improve skin health. Its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce persistent redness, while its gentle exfoliating action evens skin tone without irritation. Clinical studies show that 10% azelaic acid formulations deliver optimal results, making it an ideal choice for those seeking effective yet gentle skincare solutions.

  • Reduces redness and inflammation - Anti-inflammatory action specifically suitable for rosacea-prone skin

  • Evens skin tone and texture - Gentle exfoliation improves complexion clarity without irritation

  • Strengthens skin barrier - Improves skin's protective function and reduces reactivity to environmental triggers

Terrific Product, Please Make Larger Size

This is the first azelaic acid product that visibly calms and redness-corrects my skin. I love the smooth texture, although it's not moisturizing enough for my mature, dry skin. I apply a rich moisturizer on top and I'm grateful they work well together.

The recommended use of twice per day uses up this tiny 1 oz tube quickly. Would appreciate a larger size, at least 2 ounces.

Not ideal for super sensitive skin

I came out in an allergic reaction after using this serum. After patch-testing it on my arm it all seemed fine, but I tested again on a small part of my face and within a day my face was covered in small, itchy bumps. My skin generally can't tolerate retinols even at the lowest concentration, so it's not all that surprising but I'm kind of bummed out because it was advertised for sensitive skin and rosacea.

If you have super sensitive skin and don't tolerate actives very well, make sure to patch test twice. If it looks fine on your arm, put a little bit on a small section of your face (maybe on your jawline) and leave it for a couple of days just to double check!

Hi Jess, thank you for your review and for taking the time to share your patch testing tips with others. We're so sorry the Azelaic Acid didn't work out for you though, especially when it's marketed as suitable for sensitive skin and rosacea. We completely understand the frustration.
Skin can sometimes react differently to the same ingredient depending on where it's applied, and for super sensitive skin that doesn't tolerate actives well, even gentle formulas can sometimes be too much. That said, your experience is something we take seriously.
