How to recycle your INKEY products
At The INKEY List we were built on a belief that better information drives better decisions and our Knowledge Powers Change mission stretches way beyond the bathroom cabinet. We use this mission to power decision making about our ingredients, packaging and climate impact and to continue to empower change from the inside out.
We’re not claiming to have all the answers, but we’re on the journey of change and one of our areas of focus is our packaging. We often get asked how to recycle your empty INKEY bottles and tubes so...
HOW TO RECYCLE YOUR EMPTY INKEY PRODUCTS
How you recycle can be as important as what you recycle to ensure that the plastic is correctly sorted and recycled. We have recycling info inside all of our packaging to let you know which products are ready to hit the green bin and which may need parts removed before disposal. Don’t forget to check your local recycling guidelines to make sure you’re complying with regional rules.
Here’s what to do between the bathroom and the bin:
Have a tube cleanser such as our Oat Cleansing Balm or Retinol Serum?
STEP ONE: Separate the cap
STEP TWO: Cut off the perforated end of the tube
STEP THREE: Remove any excess product and rinse
STEP FOUR: Recycle!
Have a bottle cleanser such as our Salicylic Acid Cleanser or Hyaluronic Acid Serum?
STEP ONE: Separate the cap
STEP TWO: Rinse the bottle out
STEP THREE: Recycle!
TIP: When cutting open a tube or removing a cap, make sure to check for any leftover product to reduce waste (and bonus extra uses for your skin!)
It’s important to rinse out the packaging to ensure it has more chance of being recycled. We also recommend removing the cap as they are made from different types of plastic which may not be sorted together.
Armed with right KNOWLEDGE, we hope to empower ourselves and our customers to make positive changes for people and planet.
THE INKEY LIST PACKAGING PLEDGE
We are working really hard to make sure our packaging is as planet friendly as possible whilst still keeping your products the highest of quality.
By Feb 2022 100% of our range will be recyclable and 86% of our range will use a minimum of 50% recycled plastic in its packaging. All our tubes and pumps will be mono-material making them easier to recycle. We will only use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard to ensure it’s from well-managed forests and/or verified and recycled sources.
By 2022 we will reduce our overall plastic output by 48 tonnes and continue the journey of growth and change - we will make sure to update our customers along the way.
Beyond packaging, we are looking at a number of other areas where we can make a real impact in how we support society, our climate impact and ingredients. To find out more about our Knowledge Powers Change commitment visit our campaign page.
Transparency is a core pillar of our brand and we are fully committed to being the best we can possibly be for both people and planet. If you have any questions, ideas or would like to feed back, please get in contact with us at askINKEY.
