Crepey skin is skin that has become thin, finely lined and loose, with a texture similar to crepe paper. It usually covers a broader area than a single wrinkle does, and it often looks slightly slack or crinkled when you move or stretch it. It is not the same thing as wrinkles, and that distinction matters, because the two develop differently and respond to different things.

A Simple Way to Check Your Skin’s Elasticity
There is a low-tech check you can do in about five seconds.
Gently pinch the skin on the back of your hand or on the inner forearm, hold it for a moment, then release it and watch how quickly it settles back. Skin with good elastic recoil drops back almost immediately and smoothly. Chronic Dehydration and Transepidermal Water Loss
Transepidermal water loss sounds technical. In plain terms, it means this: water is constantly moving up from the deeper layers of your skin toward the surface, where it evaporates into the air. That process is normal and continuous. The question is how much escapes.
